Window Restoration on the Dallas County Courthouse Begins
Renaissance has started the Window Restoration of the Dallas County Courthouse in Adel, Iowa. Working through the Iowa winter, we will be stripping the window jambs in place, repairing deteriorated components, and getting ready for brand new wood window sash. The new sash will have insulated glass, but will look just like the original from the exterior. This is not easy as 96 of the windows are Bent (Curved) and have curved insulated glass. Our partner in millwork on this project is Dubuque Sash and Door.
We are pleased to be working with Keffer/Overton Architects of Des Moines, and the Dalla County Board of Supervisors on this beautiful turn of the Century courthouse.

Renaissance Restoration selected to restore the Grant Wood Studio.
Starting this spring, Renaissance will be working in Cedar Rapids to restore the Studio, and home of Grant Wood, Iowa's most famous artist. Located at 5 Turner Alley, the Studio is located in what began life as the hayloft of the carriage house for the Turner Mortuary. Mr. Wood worked for the Turner family, renovating and decorating the adjacent Mortuary. His unique solutions to living and working in a space of less than 1000 square feet, show him to be a talented rehabber as well as artist. Wood's most famous paintings such as American Gothic, and the Midnight Ride were created in this wonderful small space.
Restorations will include the steel windows and skylights installed after a fire in 1932, a new roof, cupola restoration and repair of the soffits, and facia.
We are very pleased to be chosen to help restore this wonderful piece of Iowa History, and to be able to once again work with Architect Rick Seely, AIA, and OPN Architects.
